Born in a Sock Drawer
We shall draw a veil over my reasons for draping a pair of socks over the back of my sofa. Charlie--who has a "thing" about feet--instantly buried his nose in them. He didn't even budge while I sketched and photographed him. He was in foot-odour heaven. Comatose with pleasure.
I think he must have been born in a sock drawer.

Earth Hour
Here's the thing about Earth Hour: it's dark! I had to draw standing up with a candle in one hand.
The woman who handed me the candle said, "The paper cup will burn, so be a bit careful." I said, "Don't worry!" and promptly set it on fire.
But the evening was clear and mild. The moon shone like mad. The music was great--the lights and sound system ran on solar-powered batteries. And the crowd was all lit up by candlelight. It was so beautiful.
I was a little embarassed about my burnt paper cup. Everybody else's was perfect. But I came home smelling of beeswax. Delicious!

Breakfast on Saturday
This was the view from my table on Saturday at the Ruffled Feather. The owner took me aside and showed me the sketch I'd drawn back in November. She'd framed it beautifully, and now it's hanging on the wall in the restaurant. I was thrilled! I still get a warm glow every time I think of it.

Breakfast Flowers
I ate with one hand and sketched with the other. But I got carried away with the orange and purple markers. In real life, these flowers were the same colour as my scrambled eggs!

On the Ice
Were these people crazy? I couldn't decide. The weather was so warm and the ice was so mushy-looking that I kept waiting for someone to fall through. But everyone seemed to be having a great time. Even the dogs.
The red boat belongs to the yacht club--it had been hauled out for the winter. But the orange one was an ice boat. It zipped into view and out again so fast my pen barely touched the paper!

EconoWash
The other day, at the laundromat. Behind me, the manager was talking
to a customer about--what else?--The Hockey Game.

My Sketchbook Gets a Bath
I noticed something in my cat's water dish. For a second, I thought I'd accidentally dropped a teabag in there. Then I realized it was a tiny sketchbook I'd made out of notepaper.
A couple of hours ago, it was on the art table in my living room. When I wasn't looking, someone must have taken it to the kitchen to give it a bath. I wonder who that could have been?
