These may not be the most fabulous sketches ever drawn, but maybe they'll get points for spontenaiety. I was walking home from the A&P tonight when the heavens opened and torrents of rain poured down. I scrambled onto the nearest porch (across the street from the library, which you can just see behind the red bench.)
I drew these standing up, holding a dripping umbrella and trying not to get my sketchbook too wet. Man, did it ever rain! Woohoo! As an added bonus, there was lightning and thunder. When it finally eased up I hurried home, shoved the groceries in the fridge, grabbed my camera and rushed back out. The sun was going down, and there was just enough time to snap a couple of photos of this excellent rainbow.
